Barncat Classic Maine Coons is where you will find happy and healthy Maine Coon cats and Maine Coon kittens. We are a small cattery, located in Southeastern Massachusetts; just 15 minutes from Providence, RI and 45 minutes from Boston, MA.  At Barncat we take breeding these magnificent Maine Coon cats very seriously. Our Cattery is FeLV, FIV and Ringworm free. Our cats are tested for HCM using the gene testing at UC Davis Veterinary Genetics Lab and also by cardiac ultrasound every two years with a Board Certified Cardiologist.  Our cats are also tested for SMA and PK Deficiency.  Our focus is ALWAYS health first, temperament, and structure that conforms to the Maine Coon breed standard.  We are registered with TICA and CFF.

As breeders our goal is to consistently offer healthy, well bred kittens, in a variety of colors; without compromising the Maine Coon breed. We enjoy the challenge of improving our kittens and contributing to the Maine Coon pedigree. To do this we continually strive towards being a better breeder through education; always making great effort to use research and shared knowledge to produce the highest quality kittens. We take great care in the selection of our breeding cats and believe that a genetically diverse gene pool is an essential part of a healthy breeding program.  We blend International lines with American lines for healthy, affectionate and beautiful kittens.  We look for qualities such as: health, exceptional type, wonderful wild expression, good structure, and great temperament. These qualities produce large, typey kittens with excellent health, wonderful temperaments, and longevity.

At Barncat we do not cage our cats, they have free run of the house as our beloved pets.   We love our Maine Coon cats very much and will NOT place our Maine Coon kittens with anyone who is not prepared to take good care of our babies and love them for the rest of their life.  We do have an outside catio so they do get fresh air and sunshine which we feel is very important for their physical and mental health.

We are a closed cattery, we do not provide outside stud service.

New policy, please read before reserving or purchasing a kitten from us.

In this day and age, inviting people into your home can be quite dangerous.  We limit visits as much as possible for several reasons. We do not provide allergy visits, nor do we allow visits to come pick out a kitten or just to come look at the cats. When you're asking to visit, our "cattery" you are asking to visit our home, where we live with our family and children.

Visitors are pretty invasive in our daily life and strangers in the house is extremely stressful for the kittens when they hear and smell things unknown to them, and their mothers who are very protective of their youngsters, especially with strangers. Young kittens are extremely vulnerable to airborne diseases and their mother's stress so we are upping our biosecurity here at Barncat. Our kittens and their moms are our number 1 priority, as of 1-1-2019 all kittens will be delivered to their new homes or we will be meeting new owners at a public place designated by us unless other arrangements are made by both parties.  If you are not OK with this new policy then we are not the breeder for you.  We take the utmost precautions for our own, our cats and kitten's sake.

We post photo's of our kittens when they are old enough to be chosen and then they are chosen by the people on our reservation list in the order the deposits are received.  We have been using this selection process for years and find it to be the fairest for all involved.  If we feel that a chosen kitten is not the right fit for a family then we will work with that family to find the right fit.  A shy kitten will not be a good fit for a busy family with children and a very active outgoing kitten will not be a good match for a very quiet household.

Blessings to you all!
